Our community
Why we're here
The Bay Area is home to a growing community of DPC clinicians—and the Bay Area DPC Association is a new effort to bring us together. The idea is simple: meet a few times a year to connect, share what's working (and what isn't), and support each other in building relationship-based practices. Whether you're already running a practice, planning one, or just curious about the model, let's come together to support each other and build community.
The model
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model that restores the simple, personal relationship between you and your doctor. Instead of billing your insurance for each visit, a DPC practice charges a flat, affordable monthly membership fee that covers your primary care—office visits, common procedures, and direct communication with your physician by phone, text, or email.
Because these practices keep their patient panels small and don't deal with insurance paperwork for routine care, your doctor has more time for you: longer appointments, same-day or next-day access, and the ability to actually get to know you and your health over time. DPC is designed to complement, not replace, your insurance, which you'll still want for things like specialists, hospital stays, and emergencies. The result is unhurried, relationship-based care with transparent, predictable pricing and a doctor who's genuinely accessible when you need them.
